This one-of-a kind stunner was wheel thrown and shaped into a stately form. It is then fired to 1500F, removed from the kiln, sprayed with ferric chloride and dunked into a mixture of fermented flour, sugar, yeast and water. The flour mixture burns on the pot leaving random patterns then quick cooled in cold water to preserve the pattern and color. Once cooled the pot is scrubbed and protected with a few coats of a clear acrylic spray.
It's a wild and exciting process!
